What is cloud computing?
Cloud computing is widely spread over the internet. It refers to storing, retrieving and gathering data online with the internet. You don’t need hardware or maintain in-house computing infrastructure, all you need to access any information is a cloud.
Cloud computing delivers IT services, data is stored in a safe and secure place, resources are gathered through applications and web-based tools from the internet.
Types of Cloud Computing
Each type of cloud computing provides with different levels of management, control, and flexibility.
Public clouds are operated and owned by a third-party, cloud service providers. It means that computing infrastructure is located on the premises of a cloud computing company. The hardware, location, software, and servers are owned and managed by service providers and you can access it through webpage or application.
Private Cloud provides the same benefit as of the public cloud. It refers to Cloud computing resources that are used solely by one organization. Infrastructure and services are maintained on a private network. It is best for organizations with unpredictable and dynamic computing needs and requires direct control over the environment.
In simple words, using both public and private cloud services, depending on the purpose of the organization. Hybrid Cloud provides businesses with more deployment options, flexibility, optimized infrastructure, and security. For e.g. an organization can deploy public cloud for customer access and private cloud for internal data storage and accessibility.
Types of Cloud Computing on Service Basis
Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS)
Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) offers models that deliver architecture and infrastructure on an outsource basis to support an organization. It is cost-efficient, you have to pay for the service you avail. IaaS characteristics are; dynamic, scalable, flexible, automate IT services and platform virtualization.
Platform as a Service (PaaS)
The PaaS provides a platform that allows customers to run, manage and develop applications without the complexity of building and maintaining one. It encapsulates the environment where users can build, compile and run their programs without worrying about the underlying infrastructure. In this model, you manage data and the application resources; all other resources are managed by the vendor.
Software as a Service (SaaS)
SaaS is a service that on-demand pay per use of application software to users. It is available on an independent platform, don’t need to install the software on your servers. Cloud runs a single instance of software available for multiple end users. Computing resources are managed by the vendors. You access this service through a web browser or an application.
